CLIMATIC FEATURES OF BHOPAL DURING FEBRUARY

As in January sky during February also continues to be mainly clear with light surface wind from northerly direction. With the receding winter, the mean minimum temperature gradually increases from 10.0 °C to 17.0 °C by the end of the month. There are rare occasions when the minimum temperatures drops below 5°C. The mean maximum temperature shows a rise from 28.0°C to 30.0°C during this month. The average monthly rainfall in this month is 5.3 mm. but sometimes much heavier amounts have been recorded. Occasionally, in association with western disturbances moving across north India, the fair weather may be interrupted by development of cloudiness and thunderstorm accompanied by rain. Sometimes thunderstorm may also be accompanied by hail.

On the basis of the available records,Bhopal experiences following exteme values :-
1) The highest maximum temperature 37.6°C on 22nd February 2006.
2) The lowest minimum temperature of 1.7°C on 11th February 1950.
3) The highest total monthly rainfall of 57.7 mm. in 1928 .
4) The heaviest fall in 24 hours of 31.5 mm. on 4th February 2003.
During the last decade the number of days when the minimum temperature is 8.0°C or below and the lowest minimum temperature in degree celcius with date are indicated in the following table.

CLIMATIC FEATURES OF INDORE DURING FEBRUARY

As in January sky during February also continues to be mainly clear with light surface wind from North or Northeast Direction. With the receding winter, the Mean Minimum Temperature gradually increases from 10.0 °C to 14.0 °C by the end of the month. There are rare occasions when the Minimum Temperatures drops below 5°C the Mean Maximum Temperature shows a rise from 27.0°C to 32.0°C during this month. The total monthly rainfall in this month is 2.5 mm. but sometimes much heavier amounts of rainfall have also been recorded. Occasionally, in association with Western Disturbances moving across Northern part of the country, the fair weather may be interrupted by development of cloudiness and thunderstorm accompanied by rain. Sometimes thunderstorm may also be accompanied by hail and gusty winds.

On the basis of the available records,Indore experiences following exteme values :-
1) The Highest Maximum Temperature 37.9C on 22ND February 2006.
2) The Lowest Minimum Temperature of –2.8°C on 1st February 1929.
3) The Highest total monthly rainfall of 39.9 mm. in 1888.
4) The Heaviest fall in 24 hours of 32.0 m m. on 22nd February 1888.
